Good news about the disruption at our Smolyan site: a new router has been secured. Installation is planned for Thursday 12 to Friday 13 November 2026. After that, all services should be running smoothly again.
The outage began on Sunday 25 October 2026 at 23:08 (Sofia time). So you can always see what has happened and what comes next, here is the full course of events – just like a parcel tracker.
Outage timeline
| Date | Status | Event |
|---|---|---|
| 25 Oct 2026, 23:08 (Sofia time) | ✅ Completed | Power failure with a voltage surge at the site. With no backup power, servers and network equipment go offline. |
| 26 Oct 2026 | ✅ Completed | Power is restored. However, the surge has damaged the modem and the site remains unreachable from outside. The internet provider is notified. |
| 27 Oct 2026, evening | ✅ Completed | Technician visit: the modem is repaired. |
| 28 Oct 2026 | ✅ Completed | A check of the network path reveals a router fault. |
| 29 Oct 2026 | ✅ Completed | Router failure confirmed. A DNS failover to an emergency server in Frankfurt keeps core web services, webmail and status pages running provisionally. Services with a backup move there; services without one stay on the maintenance page. |
| 31 Oct 2026 | 🔄 In progress | The line to the site responds to network tests again, but connections to the servers are not yet possible. New router secured. Power redundancy review under way. |
| 12–13 Nov 2026 | ⏳ Planned | New router installed and the site's connection restored. |
| from 13 Nov 2026 | ⏳ Planned | Normal operation: all services running again, maintenance pages removed. |
Until then
- Services with a backup run temporarily on the external backup server.
- Services without a backup stay on the maintenance page until the new router is installed.
- After installation, we will move all services back to the site step by step.
Making sure it does not happen again
In parallel, we are upgrading: we are reviewing a redundant power supply with UPS, surge protection and a backup power solution for all network equipment.
Our apology
Once again, we sincerely apologise to all our customers and partners for this long disruption. We will update this timeline as soon as there is news.
Thank you for your patience.
